Bella Dog and I spent a couple of hours in the backyard yesterday morning. I thought I’d capture a few shots of our visitors but it didn’t go that way at all.
The lizards have been nowhere to be seen for a week or two, Mr. Toad is mostly in hiding trying to stay out of the sun, I see no butterflies, and even though when I looked out the window I saw several birds by the time I picked up the camera they had all tucked themselves into the shady branches for the day.
In fact our only visitors yesterday morning were a couple of tiny Tree Sparrows and one Grackle.
Bella didn’t even seem to enjoy chewing on her favorite stick as much as usual; she spent most of the time just staring back at the house ready to get back into the air conditioning and out of the sun.
Hum; what’s this mean for the rest of the summer? It’s not even hot yet!

You’re right. Your description is more like that of a hot day in August. I’ve only seen a few butterflies around here and I miss ‘em.
