Not far down the road from that old log cabin in yesterday’s post there is a beautiful lake; Lake Wilson. It is said to be the clearest lake in the state. It’s a great place for camping, D and K spent a weekend there once for a boy scout campout, and I’m told it’s great for fishing and hiking too. Personally I think it would be a perfect spot for a picnic lunch. L and her friends spent lots of time there swimming and hanging out before they all headed off in different directions after graduation. I hear there are bike trails through the hills and a hiking trail below the dam too.
Lately there have been a lot of homes built near the lake and I’ll bet you that those back porches have some awesome lakeside views.
It’s actually a reservoir formed by a 130 foot dam, built in 1964 as a means of flood control, on the Saline River.
On this trip I stopped just long enough to grab a quick shot but I need to make a day of it sometime and venture around; there’s lots of beautiful scenery near the lake and some awesome rocks in the surrounding hills. One of these days I’ll make that drive just to take a photo walk.
