Over the weekend D and I had plans to make the 70 mile drive to a near by larger town for some shopping. It’s something that happens anywhere from once to four times a month. One of the drawbacks of living in a tiny town. This time instead of going straight to the stores for shopping we stopped by a fun event at the airport! They were hosting a fly-in with several small planes and even helicopter rides. Some creative person called the event Great Planes on the Great Plains!
The tiger mascot from the local university made the rounds, a few old cars and assorted motorcycles were shown, and there was even a display of RC planes in one of the hangers.
I didn’t get a chance to take a turn on the helicopter this time; maybe next time. This time I walked around and took a few photos of the planes on the ground, the helicopter circling the airport, and a small plane taking off.
It was a fun morning and we even managed to get the shopping done, and get all the way home again, before those ugly gray clouds dumped another storm on us!
