Just made it home from the KPPA 2016 Winter Shutter Expo! It was a great weekend with so much information packed into three days that my brain has turned to mush. I looked through my notebook and counted the pages that I filled with notes. 25! 25 pages of notes! That’s a lot of information to learn.
We kicked off the weekend with the Image Competition followed by a pizza party and lighting bays that lasted well into the night. Bright and early Saturday morning Dan Frievalt taught us all how to be crazy funky and creative and in the afternoon Mary Fisk-Taylor discussed creating a profitable, sustainable, and satisfying business with her keys to success. After sitting all day and writing pages of notes it’s nice to take a walk and we did just that as Dan lead us on a photo safari around the hotel. Saturday night ended with the annual awards banquet that included fellowship, food, memories, awards from newbie to national, and a belly dancer. Yes; that’s going to be one to remember!
We were up and at it again early Sunday morning with John LaBarge‘s amazing sports posters, Leann Kucerik‘s always awesome Photoshop tips that even included a funny little easter egg, and ended the day with John Gladman‘s beautiful Bombshell and American Portraits. If you haven’t seen the work of these amazing photographers you’ve really got to look them up!
A few days ago I shared with you the images that I took to this year’s competition in that Wish Me Luck post. Well your good thoughts paid off! I came home with two awards!!!
I Am King earned 3rd place in the General Exhibit Illustrative category and Summer Haze earned 2nd place in the same category!
Thank you so much to all the KPPA members who work so hard to put on these expos. Looking forward to the next one already!
