A Photo Walk In The Dark

Good morning and Happy day after Christmas!! I hope that you all had a great time with your family and friends; and that Santa was good to you.

D and I had a quiet Christmas day around here; the kids called several times, we sent pictures back and forth, and they emailed each other as well.

K only had the one day off so there was not time to make the drive home; he cooked up a delicious roast with lots of mushrooms… yummy. I’m sure his apartment smelled amazing while he opened all the gifts that found their way to him and spent a relaxing day off visiting with us and his many friends via phone/internet.

L and M sent sweet treats from Germany; some of mine even came in a music box! They cooked up a Texas style beef brisket in the smoker and it looked pretty awesome in the pictures!

After D and I had enjoyed our ham and scalloped potatoes we took a nice long photo walk. Had to test out his new Canon T3i! Plus the walk was a good thing before I got into the cheesecake! 😀

Our photo walk in the dark gave us another chance to take a few shots of the “city lights”. Here’s a few for you to enjoy and hopefully inspire you to get out there tonight and shoot a few; before all the Christmas lights come down. I think that tonight I will be testing out my new ring flash and my new speedlite!

Ad Astra Stands Tall

A few days ago I was once again visiting our state capital; and this time it was the official start of Christmas! As the sun went down and the lights of the city went up the big Christmas tree was lit.

We, myself and D along with #7, had a good time walking around downtown Topeka and getting a good look at the outside of the capitol building. It always looks great in the sunshine with the light reflecting off the shiny new copper of the dome; but this time we watched as the sunset reflected off the side of the dome and those city lights came on. Yep; good ol’ Ad Astra still stands tall through the cold winter nights.

downtown_topeka_kansas_black_and_white_photosI’ll share more shots of the Kansas State Capitol and a few random city scenes over the next couple of days; but for today, I just wanted to share these two simple black and white images.

…city sidewalks….busy sidewalks….it’s Christmastime in the city…
