Has It Really Been That Long?

Holy Cow! Has it really been that long since I wrote a blog post?!

Boy am I getting good at abandoning the blog for long periods of time. Sheesh!

So sorry about that. Guess I’ve just been busy with other projects. I’m sure you all know how that goes.

Hmmm, what have I been up to the last few months…

…well, during the holidays I’m always busy with the crafty things [The Craft Basket in Alton, Kansas – Craft ‘N Chat in Osborne, Kansas – and my own little crafty business KKH Crafts] and there’s craft fairs to sell at

…like a lot of us those dang Dr. visits get in the way but I have fully recovered from the cancer scare from about this time last year, found a procedure that is doing wonders for the migraines!!, and as we speak wearing one of those dang 7 day heart monitors. Eh it’s always something!

…there’s always the visits to see the kids and that rare occasion when they are home at the same time

…our county fair had many photo ops this year from the parade to the barrel racing, from the rodeo to the slip and slide kickball tournament

Cowboy Up

…there was the Alton Jubilee to shoot again this past summer

…the dogs to take care of. Yes I said dogs – plural; we gained a new family member recently. Her name is Dixie and she’s a little 1 year old Chihuahua mix. She and old Bella dog seem to be getting along just fine

…the KPPA events have been great and I am currently getting ready for the Winter Expo and the 2018 image competition. Wish me luck! I will be entering both the Photographic Open and the new Artist competition.

…I have joined a group of people from around Osborne County who are part of the Osborne County Community Foundation and I am using a few Photoshop skills to help them create a county wide community calendar

…I think I will soon be attending a Women’s retreat in Bandera, Tx  organized by Christ Centered Retreats – I’ll mostly be there to photograph the event but I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun as well.

So you see I haven’t been ignoring you all on purpose. I’ve just been occupied elsewhere.

You can always like KKH Photos on Facebook to keep up with what I’m doing, and now you can follow me on Instagram! Yes; I’ve finally scratched “set up Instagram page” off my to do list and got it done. I’ve even made a few posts over there!

I will try to do better with the blog and make more posts here in 2018. Really I will!

I hope.

F-Stop On The Rocks

More Kansas Professional Photographers Association Fun!! Back at the end of April D and I joined a few other KPPA members out in the western part of Kansas for an F-Stop On The Rocks.

F-stops are fun meetups for KPPA members. A chance to visit and learn from each other. This F-stop included beautiful views of western Kansas at Castle Rock and Monument Rock, a stop at Dairy Queen, a tasty picnic supper, and just a little driving. Well for us the drive wasn’t that bad but for the members who traveled from the east side of the state… well they had some driving to do!!

Most F-stops include a model or two so we have someone to aim all those cameras at. This time we had 3 young models who stuck with us all day doing their best to smile while standing up against the Kansas wind; they had a great time with the parachute! The girls will each receive a nice collection of images from a dozen photographers for all their hard work.

I somehow managed to get individual shots of only 2 of the girls. Not sure how I missed the 3rd but I was roaming around taking pictures of the rocks. Guess their image collections won’t be exactly even. Sorry about that girls!!

Other than the strong, no let’s make that STRONG!, Kansas winds we had a beautiful day for our F-stop. It’s a good thing we didn’t wait a week because a week later that part of the state was under 14″ of snow!!

-more pictures of the rocks coming soon- well not too soon I’m off for some more fun; this time to east side of the state!
